Greg is Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer of The RMR Group, an alternative asset management company that was founded in 1986 to invest in real estate and manage real estate related businesses. RMR’s business primarily consists of providing management services to five publicly owned real estate investment trusts, or REITs, and three real estate related operating companies.

Prior to joining RMR in 2019, Greg was Managing Director, CIO at Tishman Speyer where he was responsible for global IT strategy and operations. Prior to that he was SVP, CIO at W. P. Carey and started his career in software consulting. Greg is a member of the Realcomm International Advisory Council and is a past president of the Oracle Real Estate Users Group. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Cornell University.

Tim Curran joined Building Engines as President & CEO in November 2017 after serving as a Director on Building Engines’ Board of Directors since 2011. Tim has been a high-growth software company executive for the past 20 years, 3x as CEO. He has spent the past 15 years in commercial real estate software including CEO of Vela Systems which was acquired by Autodesk in 2012, Board Director of Smartvid.io, an AI/ML for Construction company, and Building Engines. Tim spent the first 10 years of his career developing and implementing software applications at Accenture.

In addition to being CEO of Building Engines, Tim sits on the boards of two Boston software companies, has active seed investments in ten technology start-ups, and is a volunteer mentor with YearUp, who’s mission is to close the Opportunity Divide by providing urban young adults with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education.

Tim holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Art is CIO of Highwoods Properties, a fully-integrated REIT specializing in the development, acquisition, leasing and management of quality office space, primarily in the Southeast. He is a twenty-five year business technology veteran responsible for developing Highwoods’ overall information technology strategy and aligning the company’s technology investments with business objectives.

Before joining Highwoods in 2000, Art was a technology consulting manager at accounting firm McGladrey & Pullen. Prior to that, he served as a network manager for a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. His professional affiliations include current membership on the board of the Office Technology and Operations Consortium, a group of leading North American real estate companies with the common goal of sharing their collective experiences to improve business processes; drive customer value, and elevate the industry standard to a higher level of excellence. He is a past board member for the Society for Information Management and past president for the Oracle Real Estate Application user group. Art also currently serves on the Quest International board of directors.

Art earned his BA from Elon University in 1990, and his Master of Business Administration from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Kenan-Flagler Business School.

He is a longtime member of the Realcomm Advisory Council and has served in executive-level roles for several large real estate and CRE tech organizations including General Growth Properties (GGP); Alvarez and Marsal and RealFoundations in the United Kingdom; Cityscape in Lagos, Nigeria; Equity Office Properties; Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal; and Accenture.

Alex Nicoll is Business Insider’s real estate, proptech and finance reporter. While at Business Insider, he has explored various topics on emerging tech in the real estate industry, how tech is transforming the industry, the boom in investment in the space and the digitization and modernization of real estate processes. He has interviewed the likes of MetaProp co-founders Aaron Block and Zach Aarons, IWG’s CEO Mark Dixon, and Fifth Wall’s co-founders Brad Greiwe and Brendan Wallace, and is in the know on hot startups including Quarters, Biproxi, Jetty, Hippo, Eden and Snapdoc. He has also covered, and closely follows, major happenings and trends shaping the industry including how the WeWork fallout is impacting the flex-office sector and SoftBank’s role in real estate tech funding. Ms. Shank is based in Boston and oversees portfolio management, including technology initiatives to improve the tenant experience. In this role, she evaluates opportunities to invest in and pilot new technology to add value across Beacon’s portfolio. In addition to other corporate projects, she spearheads technology adoption across functionalities, and has forged relationships with leading industry providers.

Ms. Shank is the co-founder and co-chair of ULI’s New England Real Estate Technology Council, and a founding member of ULI’s Technology and Real Estate National Product Council both are multidisciplinary, collaborative network where real estate practitioners and technology providers can share, debate, and hone ideas to accelerate innovation across the industry. She is a frequent speaker on commercial real estate technology at industry events, and was recognized by Real Estate Forum as one of the 50 under 40 in commercial real estate in 2015. She is also on the Board of Advisors for several companies including VTS, Building Engines, Compstak and WiredScore.

Within portfolio management she oversees the reforecasting process, chairs the Lease Committee, is a member of the Debt Committee, and is a voting member of Investment Committee. She also oversees the internship program. Before heading up portfolio management she was a Managing Director in acquisitions/dispositions and involved in all aspects of transactions. In this role she worked on several billion dollars of acquisitions and dispositions and oversaw the Analyst/Associate/Vice Presidents who worked in Acquisitions. Prior to joining Beacon Capital Partners, Ms. Shank was a Senior Associate for Cornerstone Properties in San Francisco, where she worked with the asset management team to enhance revenues and reduce costs throughout their nationwide real estate portfolio. Ms. Shank held positions at William Wilson & Associates, prior to its purchase by Cornerstone, as an Investment Analyst and as a Property Accountant. Ms. Shank holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Virginia, a Master of Business Administration degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Helane is responsible for the overall technology vision, strategy, systems and infrastructure that support business operations. She leads the implementation of transformational solutions that drive organizational efficiency, increase productivity, enhance collaboration and deliver results.
Prior to joining Brixmor in 2015, Helane worked as the Vice President of Information Technology for Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust where she led the development of technology strategy, innovation and operations. She has also served in multiple management, senior consultant and programming positions at Siemens Medical Solutions.

Helane earned a Master of Business Administration and Healthcare Administration from Saint Joseph’s University and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Pittsburgh. Helane is active in the REIT tech industry having served on several boards, panels and user groups throughout her career. She currently serves as board member for the Oracle Real Estate Users Group and Society of Information Management. She has been recognized for innovative use of technology for three consecutive years by leading technology publication Information Week. She has nearly 20 years of experience working in the shopping center industry.

Mark D. Theine is the Senior Vice President of Asset and Investment Management at Physicians Realty Trust, a position he has held since their IPO in July 2013.

In this role, Mr. Theine oversees the asset management, operations, and leasing teams, providing hospital and physician clients with high-quality management services while implementing strategies to maximize property and portfolio values.

From September 2005 to July 2013, Mr. Theine was employed by the Ziegler Funds and was responsible for evaluating investment opportunities, assisting in the daily asset management of all Ziegler Fund investments, overseeing third-party property management and leasing, and monitoring property performance. Additionally, Mr. Theine’s responsibilities with Ziegler included identifying new investment opportunities and assisting with due diligence and financing arrangements for each investment.

Mr. Theine earned an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and graduated summa cum laude with a B.B.A. in finance and accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

Steve Weikal is Head of Industry Relations at the MIT Center for Real Estate, responsible for managing relationships between the Center and its global network of industry partners and nearly 1100 alumni of the MIT Master’s in Real Estate Development (MSRED) program, in 46 countries.  He is also a lecturer and researcher, and the CRE Tech lead in the MIT Real Estate Innovation Lab, focused on innovative new technology and business models that disrupt the traditional ways of developing, transacting and managing real estate.

Steve was the Founder of MIT Real Disruption, a successful series of conferences discussing the impact of emerging technology on the real estate industry that is now part of the international CREtech conference platform.  He is a member of the CREtech Leadership Board, and sits on the advisory boards of three real estate technology start-ups.  Steve has spoken extensively about real estate technology at conferences for AFIRE, ULI, IREM, SIOR, CCIM, CoreNet, ICSC and BOMA, and has been quoted by numerous media outlets, including BuzzFeed, TechInsider, the Boston Globe, GlobeSt. the Real Reporter, Travel Weekly, IPE Real Assets Europe and Anuario Inmobiliario LatinoAmerica.

Steve holds a Master’s of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) and Master’s in City Planning (MCP) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School.  He is a licensed attorney, a licensed real estate broker and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Prior to his position at the MIT Center for Real Estate, Steve was Vice President of NOW Communities, a Concord, MA based developer of new residential neighborhoods that merge the best of traditional design with 21stcentury energy technology.  Before graduate school, Steve was National Media Tour Producer for Martin Scorses’s The Blues, for WGBH Boston, was Manager of Partner Acquisition at Curl, a VC funded tech start-up launched to commercialize a new coding language developed at the MIT Lab for Computer Science (LCS), and was a Founding Partner of Sonoma Coast Vineyards, maker of award winning Pinot Noir from the Extreme Sonoma Coast of California.  He began his real estate career restoring and redeveloping historic theaters in Detroit’s Fox Center entertainment district.
